With a heavy heart, CareArc has announced the upcoming closure of its Eureka Health Center located at 1602 N. Elm St. Eureka, KS, effective February 29, 2024. The decision, driven by financial challenges caused by decreasing population trends in the area and ongoing recruitment difficulties, brings to a close a significant chapter in CareArc’s commitment to providing healthcare services in Greenwood and Woodson counties.
Established in 2014 through a grant, the Eureka Health Center has been a pillar in the community, offering medical, dental, and behavioral health services. "We are incredibly grateful for the opportunity we've had to serve the Eureka community. Our patients’ well-being has always been our top priority, and it has been our honor to provide quality care to this wonderful community," said Renee Hively, CEO of CareArc.
The decision to close the center was not made lightly. Factors contributing to this outcome include financial losses tied to the decreasing population in Eureka, the challenge of its rural location in Greenwood County, far from larger population centers, difficulties in recruiting dentists and providers, and an oversaturation of providers in the Eureka healthcare market.
"We understand that this transition may be difficult for our patients. I assure you that our team is dedicated to making this transition as smooth as possible," added Renee Hively. CareArc remains committed to ensuring that patients receive uninterrupted care and will assist them in transferring their medical records to new providers or continuing their care at CareArc's Emporia location.
"We extend our deepest gratitude to the residents of Eureka and surrounding areas for entrusting us with their care over the years. It has been a privilege to be a part of this community," Renee Hively remarked. "Our mission at CareArc has always been to provide personalized, affordable, and quality health services. While we are saddened to close our Eureka location, we remain steadfast in our commitment to this mission and to serving the healthcare needs of our patients."
